About MBHC

Marcus Black History Club

How we started

The Marcus High School Black History Club (MHS BHC) was founded in 2002 on the campus of Edward S. Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas. The club was started by students, faculty, and parents who were interested in expanding the knowledge of African American history among students of all cultures at Marcus High School. Marcus High School is apart of the Lewisville Independent School District (LISD).

Purpose

The purpose of the Marcus Black History Club is to explore, reinforce, and celebrate the African American heritage, culture and historical contributions.  We believe it is important to appreciate other cultures and to be aware of their significant benefaction to the world.  Our goal is to provide social support while fostering student development and success through cultural awareness, leadership, philanthropy, and community service.

The Marcus Black History Club is open to all Marcus High School students who are interested in learning more about the history, traditions, and customs of African Americans. Some of our annual activities include HBCU College tours, workshops, Taste of Soul and the Black History program.
